Canning bananas

Yep, you read that right. You CAN can bananas. Well, you’re not supposed to but you know. [mutters in rebel canner]. I recently posted a reel to instagram and facebook of my canning bananas and so many folks had no idea! They had their freezers full of those weird frozen, sad bananas!

These have been a game changer for me. My kids LOVE bananas but I don’t love those awful fruit gnats that come with them. So, during the warm seasons, bananas are outlawed here. Insert canned bananas. By having shelf stable banana puree on in my pantry, I can whip up something banana-y in no time. Our favorites? banana bread & banana waffles. One pint of bananas is perfect for my bread and waffle batter recipes.

No need to freeze those bananas anymore for them to get that strange freezer flavor. Slap ‘em in a jar and live your life! I’ve also mixed a pint of bananas with a quart of homemade applesauce and it was realllllll good. If you do want frozen bananas to make smoothies or milkshakes, toss a quart into a silicone ice mold overnight. I swear they taste so much better!

I do gotta say this though. This is rebel canning. It is an untested method. This post is for educational purposes only. I cannot control what you do in your kitchen and therefore am not responsible for any mishaps that may occur. Please do your own research and have a solid understanding of safe canning practices before entering into rebel land.
