Can sliced & spiced apples with me!

I’m continuing to work through this mountain of apples I have been blessed with. The lazy canner in me is over peeling apples at this point.

Which brings me to this method. I did a test jar of unpeeled sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg and BOY did they turn out good! They have the same texture as fried apples I love to make, but are now in a quicker and more convenient dump, heat, and eat jar!

These canned apples slices could easily be buzzed into apple sauce, cooked down into apple butter, strainer for an apple crisp or apple cake. The uses are endless and this might be my new favorite way to preserve apples because it’s quick and I don’t have to peel them. Of course, if you want to peel them, you totally can!

Any canning book will have how to can apple slices or rings, so this recipe isn’t rebellious, other than the fact that I just add all the ingredients to a jar rather than making a sticky mess heating up a syrup on the stove top. Get your kettle of water boiling while you pile your goodies in and go! Quick and easy, just the way I like it.

Enjoy friends!
